Nadi Pariksha: Unlocking Your Body’s Wisdom Through Pulse Diagnosis
At Maitri Ayurveda, we offer Nadi Pariksha, an ancient and profound Ayurvedic diagnostic technique that delves deep into the secrets of your health. Often called “pulse diagnosis,” this gentle yet powerful method allows our experienced Ayurvedic practitioner to understand the unique state of your body and mind, guiding you towards personalised wellbeing.
What is Nadi Pariksha?
Nadi Pariksha is much more than a pulse; it is the gateway into your internal balance. By carefully palpating the pulse at specific points on your wrist, we are able to see the balance of the three fundamental energies in Ayurveda called Vata, Pitta, and Kapha (the Tridoshas) and gain valuable information about:
- Your Current Health Picture: We can see subtle imbalances that are present before they spring to noticeable symptoms.
- Underlying Reasons for Your Health Concerns: The information regarding the Dosha imbalance is important in identifying the reasons behind somew health matters you might be dealing with.
- Your Unique Constitutions: Nadi Pariksha uncovers the unique features of your body-mind type so we can make truly customized recommendations for your health.
How Does Nadi Pariksha Benefit You?
Choosing Nadi Pariksha as part of your health journey offers several distinct advantages:
- Early Detection: It may help us detect developing health concerns early enough to take preemptive action. • Truly Personalized Care: Everyone is no the same. Nadi Pariksha allows us to determine a care plan that is genuinely based on what your body needs rather than setting a standard approach.
- A Holistic View: It helps put together a concise picture of your physical, mental and emotional health.
- Non-Invasive & Safe Procedures: The nature of this diagnostic tool is relaxed, comfortable and non-threatening.
- Guidance for Lifestyle: Nadi Pariksha not only supports care of symptoms but also helps guide on diet, lifestyle and therapies that serve best for your constitution and well-being.
The Nadi Pariksha Experience
Your Nadi Pariksha appointment will be a gentle, peaceful experience:
Comfortable Position: You will be asked to sit comfortably so your body and mind can relax.
- Gentle Pulse Testing: when we place our fingers on your radial artery on your wrist, we will test your pulse with various depths and pressures in order to account for different pulse qualities.
- Experienced Interpretation: through years of training and experience, we will interpret many very subtle things in your pulse at different depths, strengths, activity of pulse, even temperature in some cases. This is where you will receive your health review.
Beyond the Beat: What We Learn from Your Pulse
Doshas provide essential information about a patient. An Ayurvedic Practitioner knows how to interpret the pulse. It provides much information for an Ayurvedic practitioner to consider. They require key pulse attributes that provide key health-related details:
- Gati (Movement) is the unique, idiosyncratic “feel” or flow of the pulse. The feel has also been likened to feel of a swan, snake, or frog. Each is different, but they can each indicate a dominant/overactive Dosha.
- Vega (Rate) is the actual speed of the pulse.
- Tala (Rhythm) is the measurable frequency and pattern of the pulse.
- Bala (Force/Strength) is the intensity and strength of each pulse beat.
- Akruti (Volume & Tension) is the fullness and ability to stretch of the pulse.
- Tapamana (Temperature) is the actual warmth or coolness experienced at the pulse point.
- Kathinya (Consistency) is the feel of the vessel wall of the artery.
